Family Ministry

A foundation of the Family Ministry at Gospel Light is the unique relationship being built between parents and the leaders. We realize that kids only spend about 40-60 hours per year on average at church. They spend more time with you in the car in any given month! We also found out that a recent Barna study states that children prefer being spiritually trained by their parents!

We believe we (the church and the family) can join forces and make an incredible impact on the life of a child. It is our intention to partner with parents in developing children who understand the nature of God, their relationship to Him, and their purpose in His big story.

Worship Ministry

We’re dedicated to providing an environment and atmosphere in our “Celebration” services that enable both believer and nonbeliever the opportunity to worship God in spirit and in truth. We believe our weekly worship service can be very effective in evangelism of non-Christians and in edification of Christians if it does not aim at either alone but is gospel centered and in the vernacular of the community.

We have attempted to humbly learn from what the Bible teaches about worship while recognizing that God gives us great freedom in the particulars. As we filled in the blanks for our own worship, we have taken into account what the Bible teaches, our own cultural and ecclesiastical setting, and our own personal temperament and preferences. This balance allows us to truly praise and worship our God.

Discipleship Ministry

The gospel creates community. Because it points us to the One who died for his enemies, it creates relationships of service rather than selfishness. Because it removes both fear and pride, people get along inside the church who could never get along outside. Because it calls us to holiness, the people of God live in loving bonds of mutual accountability and discipline. Thus the gospel creates a human community radically different from any society around it.

It is natural to think of “community” as a category separate from evangelism and outreach, or from training and discipleship, or from prayer and worship. And of course, we have done this by calling it a distinct ministry. But to do so can be misleading. Community itself is one of the main ways we do outreach and discipleship, and even experience communion with God.

Outreach Ministry

We were created to impact all nations, including our own, for the glory of Christ. The testimony of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation is that we were created to enjoy God’s grace in relationship to Him, so that we may extend His glory to the ends of the earth. Matthew 28:19 commands and commissions us to “go and make disciples of all nations,” in other words, to reach out into our community and the world.

Our goal is to be a faith family of world-impacting disciples who are partnering with our brothers and sisters here in Hot Springs and around the world to produce disciple-making disciples all around our city, this country, and to the ends of the earth.

Hispanic Ministry

Our desire is to share God’s love with our Hispanic / Latin American friends, and provide a welcoming environment where together we can love God, love one another and love our World.  In our Hispanic Ministry our only wish is that people find a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Our Hispanic Ministry is not a separate congregation, but simply a Hispanic version of our main ministry.  It’s the same opportunity to worship God, translated into Spanish, for those who can’t speak English.  Our goal is not to create a whole new church, but to provide a place to help Hispanic people in our area who, for the time being, only speak Spanish, to integrate into the larger body of Christ!
