Statement of Faith

Scripture

We believe that the Bible, composed of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament, is the verbally and plenary inspired word of God and is inerrant, infallible and God-breathed and, therefore, is the final authority for faith and life.  It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.

Salvation

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God; but that in Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. Man is totally depraved and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever.

Faith & Practice

Scripture is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We recognize that the church cannot bind the conscience of individual members in areas where scripture is silent. Rather, each believer is to be led in these areas by the Lord, to whom he or she alone is ultimately responsible. By adhering to God’s Word and seeking Him, we can best observe His greatest commandments, which are to love Him and others.

God

We believe in one triune God, eternally existing in three persons-—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, coequal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.

Church

We believe that the local church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ, is solely made up of born-again persons and that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. We believe in the autonomy of the local church free of any external authority or control. We recognize water baptism and the Lord’s Supper as the Scriptural ordinances of obedience for the church in this age.

Worship

Worship is part of the DNA of who we are as a church. When we gather every Sunday, one of the high points of our gathering is the time of worship we share as a community. There have been many times where God has moved greatly in our church as we are all singing praise to Him together. Because of this importance of worship to our church, it is absolutely vital for us to have a foundation of why we worship the way we worship. This worship philosophy is an expression of the worship ministry of Gospel Light for the leadership, volunteers, and church members.
